Ameriprise Financial is a Fortune 500 (#296) company that offers its clients a variety of financial products and advice such as investment funds and retirement planning. It is the fourth largest financial advisory firm in the United States with over 2.5 million individual and institutional clients around the world, as well as 11,800 financial advisors. Currently it employs the more Certified Financial Planners (CFP) than any other company in the United States. Originally a subsidiary of American Express, it became its own independent company in 2005. Ameriprise is comprised of the following five businesses: Advice and Wealth Management, Asset Management, Annuities, Protection, and Corporate & Other.

Blizzard Entertainment, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, is a video game developer and publisher based in Irvine, California. This company was originally founded as Silicon & Synapse in 1991 by Allen Adham and Michael Morhaime, who currently serve as presidents of Blizzard, and Frank Pearce, who serves as the vice president. All three are graduates of UCLA and founded the company only one year after receiving their bachelor’s degrees. The company currently employs over 2,700 workers and earns an annual revenue of $1.1 billion. Blizzard is one of the most successful video game developers of all time.

When we think of video and computer gamers we usually picture young adolescent males but a good 40% of gamers are female, and the average age of gamers is 35 years old. In fact, there are more women players over the age of 18 (33% of the game-playing population) than there are male players under the age of 18 (18%). Perhaps this should not come as a surprise as more and more video games are marketed to people of all ages and sex. Games like Diner Dash are targeted more towards women, while games like Wii Fit and Wii Sports are easily enjoyed by the entire family.
