Anderson School of Management’s 2009 Entrepreneurs Conference

“I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” Those are the concluding words of Robert Frost’s “The Road not Taken,” which will be the theme for this year’s Entrepreneurs Conference hosted by the Ander-son School of Management, titled “The Entrepreneurial Road Less Traveled.” This is an annual, all day event to be held on May 8, 2009. The conference’s focus will be on entrepreneurial opportunities during the current downtrodden economy.

Spotlight on a Hospitality School: Laussane Hotel School

Switzerland is known for its secretive and highly exclusive Swiss banks, which cater to the wealthy elite. Aside from being known for its crème de la crème banks, Switzerland also boasts some of the best hospitality schools. In a study on hospitality management done in 2007 by Taylor Nelson Sofres Travel & Tourism, the largest custom research and analysis firm, Swiss hotel schools took the top three spots. To take such a prominent role in the $61 billion hospitality industry is no small feat.

Brains Behind the Brawn: Sports Management

Sports management is one of the world’s biggest and most lucrative industries with a net worth of $200 billion.  Avid sport fans who long to be in the arena but can’t drive a golf ball like Tiger Woods or dunk a basketball like LeBron James can pursue a career in sports management.  This field is an intensely competitive industry, with a very limited number of job openings and, usually, a hard climb from the bottom of the sports management ladder.  So how do you get to become the brains behind the brawns and what are the types of careers involved in sports management?
